Protestors blockaded and occupied both British Heart Foundation and Superdrug in Edinburgh today Saturday 8 December, in opposition to their participation in the government's workfare schemes.

NO TO WORKFARE - Protestors picket Primark in Edinburgh

Anti workfare protestors descended on Primark in Edinburgh's city centre on Saturday 14 July.  The Princes Street store was picketed by protestors declaring their opposition to the government's work-for-your-benefits schemes.

Unemployed win right to representation at Workfare provider A4e

Unemployed people in Edinburgh have won a significant victory by forcing workfare provider A4e to recognise that claimants on their programmes have the right to take their own representative to meetings with A4e.  For over two and a half years A4e have refused to recognise reps from Edinburgh Claimants, affiliated to Edinburgh Coalition Against Poverty.  A4e often called the police to evict both rep and claimant from their offices in Edinburgh's Earl Grey Street!
 

Edinburgh stores occupied to oppose slave labour schemes

Demonstrators in Edinburgh took direct action on the 31st March Britain-wide day of action against workfare.    Protestors occupied British Heart Foundation for an hour then invaded Poundstretcher – both heavily involved in the government’s compulsory “work-for-your-benefits” schemes.

Edinburgh Tescos invaded by anti- workfare protestors

Demonstrators opposing compulsory work for benefits invaded two branches of Tescos and picketed Poundstretcher and British Heart Foundation in Edinburgh today Saturday 3rd March.  Police dragged protestors out of Tescos, provoking protests and a virtual blockade of the store entrance by the police themselves.  Protests continued along the Bridges area of the city centre for almost 3 h
